Carmel estate, once home to California Senator Ed Tickle, for sale for $5.5M

The size alone makes this listing newsworthy in Carmel, where real estate is among the most expensive and sought after in the nation, but there’s also notable history here. Built in 1925, the home’s owners have included California State Senator Ed Tickle and his wife Bess. Prior to their residence at 25560 Shafter, the Tickles lived in Big Sur, in a home that has now become the Tickle Pink Inn.

The Tickles enjoyed their Carmel estate before selling to the home’s current owners and sellers, who themselves have owned the property for 55 years.

Given the few hands that have traded this property, it’s no surprise that much of the original design has been preserved.
